SOIS V/JV 0 - 3 CA V/JV Thanks to everyone who made the trip out to Sanda for our first game and practice after a few weeks off. Despite the loss it was a good chance to start playing again in preparation for AISA next week. SOIS 4 - 6 Keimei HS
Goals: Keanna (3), Yulia Thank you to everyone who made the trip and played during the holidays. Although we lost the game, there are plenty of positives to take away from today; some very good defending, good communication on the field, good support and overlapping from the full-backs, and adapting to a new style of attack based on the players available. It was good to see everyone adjusting to a new team and different conditions today, well done. Squad for Varsity vs CA:
Over the Spring break we have the following optional practices scheduled at school, and games against Japanese high schools:
Squad vs Keimei HS:
Please bring white uniforms as well, I am not sure what colour uniform Keimei will be wearing. Below is access information to the school. Please click here to download a PDF copy. Congratulations to the HS Girls Varsity Soccer team, who are the 2018 WJAA Champions after finishing the 7-team tournament undefeated. A special thank you to the seniors who made it possible (see photo below).

Please go to the shared Google Sheets documents to sign up for games in March and April. We need more players for the games against Keimei and Sanda Shounkan HS at the end of the Spring break, otherwise I will need to cancel them.
Also, there are new games on April 7; these are Varsity and JV games against CA, and Varsity games against a Japanese HS, at Sanda. This will be the final game before AISA and the end of the season. As there is a JV game as well, we will need almost everyone to sign up if possible please. Thank you! The following players have been selected for the WJAA tournament at MC Perry HS in Iwakuni. (The AISA squad will be announced shortly, once all of the players have informed me of their availability).
Squad:
Unfortunately these games are only 8-a-side, so only some of the squad can play. Other HS players are welcome to come and support if you can; you can learn a lot from watching these games.

Congratulations to the CA Falcons on their win this year, particularly as their squad struggled with injuries and they played the semi-final and final without any substitutes. As always it was a pleasure to host the teams from ISSH and Nagoya. Thank you for making the long trip down. Some of the results may have been disappointing for the Sabers, but as always our teams played with great spirit and will be much stronger for the experience. Of the 30 SOIS players in our three teams, only 7 were in middle school soccer last year, so the tournament was always going to represent quite a challenge. Considering a quarter of the A team, half the B team and the whole C team had no more than two weeks' experience with soccer, they played incredibly well and with a lot of heart. Highlights for the Sabers include the A team's great comeback from 3-0 down against ISSH, the close games between the B team's really close games with CA A and NIS A, and the C team's win over NIS B. Coach Rumble and I are really proud of the whole squad.
