WJAA
SOIS is an active founding member of a domestic athletic league called the Western Japan Athletics Association (WJAA; https://sites.google.com/site/wjaasports/home). The Sabers compete against all WJAA members and host important WJAA tournaments. There are WJAA weekly competitions and season-ending tournaments at all levels: high school varsity and junior varsity, and middle school A and B divisions. The WJAA consists of several international schools and US military base schools in Japan, predominately in the Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto area, but also stretching from Fukuoka to Tokyo to Hokkaido.

AISA
SOIS is a founding member of an international activities league called the Association of International Schools in Asia (AISA), which consists of four schools and whose purpose is “to help each other better achieve our schools’ mission statements and philosophies by enhancing current student activities and providing opportunities that are not otherwise available.” There are currently five AISA member schools:
  • Busan International Foreign School, www.bifskorea.org
  • Korea International School, www.kis.kr
  • Senri & Osaka International Schools, www.senri.ed.jp
  • Seoul International School, http://siskorea.org/
  • Yokohama International School, www.yis.ac.jp
Through AISA, SOIS students participate in many activities: volleyball, tennis, and choir (fall); basketball, math mania, and student leadership (winter); and soccer and swimming (spring).

Season-ending events are held each year at a league member school on a rotational basis. Sabers students bear the travel costs for such events.
