SOIS entered two high school softball teams in the 2017 WJAA tournament hosted by MBIS in Kobe, May 12-13, 2017. The "black" team finished 3rd and the "white" team finished 4th. Congratulations, Sabers, and thank you, Coach Hirai and Coach Hikosaka.

The Sabers middle school softball team travels to Canadian Academy in Kobe, May 19-20, for the season-ending WJAA tournament. The Sabers will enter one team. Good luck and thank you, Coach Nakamura, Coach Ogawa, and Coach Yamashiro.

The Sabers high school softball 2016 campaign approaches its end. The Sabers play in the season-ending WJAA tournament at Marist Brothers International School in Kobe, May 13-14. Good luck to Coach Hirai, Coach Hikosaka, and the Sabers teams - both varsity and junior varsity.

Prior to the WJAA tourney, this past Golden Week Saturday, May 7, Coach Hirai and Coach Hikosaka hosted the annual OG game on the Sabers field, a fun, friendly game between the current players and several Sabers graduates. Though "OG" stands for "old girls," the local term used for graduates, the former Sabers softball players are all young women now, some with their own small children (whom we like to call "Future Sabers"). It was a fun day of softball, a great way to maintain links between the graduates and the school.

Congratulations to Coach Hirai, Coach Hikosaka, and the Sabers high school softball team on capturing the WJAA championship at Marist Brothers International School in Kobe on May 10, 2014. The Sabers was undefeated during the tournament, defeating a tough host Bulldogs team 14-11 in the finals.

RIca Matsumoto was named tournament MVP.

The Sabers B team finished in 5th place.

It was a very satisfying and gratifying end to a long, difficult season for the Sabers team, who struggled with low numbers and cold weather early in the season and having to share practice space with the soccer and baseball teams. The team persevered and improved week by week, peaking at just the right time. Well done, Sabers coaches and players.

The Sabers MS girls softball season is in full swing and Coach Nakamura has 35+ eager players. Coach Mitsuhashi helps with the team. The Sabers have defeated both MBIS and CA, and lost to both MBIS and CA, which means the WJAA tournament, held at SOIS on May 15-16, should be an exciting one.
