Thank you to all of the players who attended the games, and put in such a great effort over the three days.
The following players are available for the games against 3 Japanese high schools next week.
Congratulations to the team for their superb performances at WJAA in Yokohama. The team won all pool games and their semifinal comfortably, and played an epic final against CA. One of the other coaches called it "the most impressive attacking team at the tournament [SOIS] against the most impressive defensive team [CA]". In the end it was a hard-fought 0-0 draw, followed by 22 penalties, with every player on both teams, including the goalies, taking a spot kick. Although Haruna made some spectacular diving saves, we lost by one in the sudden-death penalty shootout. So a 2nd place finish, but with so many superb individual performances and an inspired team performance from everyone, the tournament was really a great success. We can now look forward to a very exciting AISA tournament in Seoul next month. The only sad note was the injury to our young wizard midfielder, Leona Yanagi, who has a suspected torn ligament in her knee (again). We wish her a speedy recovery, although past experience suggests it may require an operation and a lengthy lay-off from all sports, and a tough rehabilitation period after that.
