GAME 2: Sabers defeat the APIS Green Hawks by 11, 37-26. Great defense held APIS to fewer than 6 points per quarter over the final quarters. Aki Shigeyama has a great bounce-back game, scores 20, only 2 turnovers. Sabers play new AISA membership applicant school Busan International Foreign School tomorrow morning, 10:00 AM, for a spot in the semifinals (against host KIS). Stay tuned to the Sabers Facebook group page for updates. Go Sabers! GAME 3: The Sabers suffered a surprising, demoralizing defeat to the Busan International Foreign School (BISF) Bears, 34-30. The Sabers next play at 14:15 vs APIS in the 5th-6th place game. Time to bounce back, Sabers. GAME 4, 5th-6th place game: Sabers defeat APIS for the second time in 2 days, 40-27, a comprehensive victory giving SOIS fifth place in the AISA tourney and a good feeling at the end. One special "feel good" bit: the Sabers' sole senior, Kan Sawabe, playing in his final game in the purple and black, scored the game's first and last points and dribbled out the victory at the end, mobbed by his teammates. Well done, Sabers. Already looking forward to next year.
