AISA soccer results: 3rd place for girls, boys

4/15/2015

Both the Sabers boys and girls soccer teams traveled to Seoul with high hopes for the season-ending AISA tournaments, April 9-12, 2015. Those hopes, unfortunately, were dashed as both teams finished in 3rd place.
  • All-tournament team selections for the Sabers girls were Sakiko Otsuki, Fuka Ugai, May Murakami-Smith.
  • All-tournament team selections for the Sabers boys were Gerardo Takeuchi, Akira Polenghi, Taku Kitagawa.
Congratulations and thank you to coaches Stephen Frater, Richard Fitzpatrick, Isaac Driver, and Derek Entwistle, and to chaperone Leanne Entwistle. Great seasons, Sabers.

Sabers win high school futsal tournament

4/4/2015

How do you spell d-o-m-i-n-a-t-i-o-n? Total domination is what the Sabers high school boys futsal teams showed on Saturday, April 4, 2015, on the Sabers field as the two SOIS teams placed first and second in the 2015 Sabers Invitational futsal tournament, facing each in the championship match, with one Sabers team defeating the other, 6-1.

Results can be found here: http://sabers.senri.ed.jp/hs-futsal.html.

The two Sabers teams were labeled A and B, but they were divided equally in talent. Both teams dominated pool play and elimination play, outscoring their opponents by a combined 49-2.

SIS 10th grader Hiroto Inui scored at least 15 goals to win the highly coveted Golden Boot award.

Congratulations to Coach Driver and Coach Entwistle as they followed up their earlier WJAA soccer tournament championship. Next up, the AISA tournament next week in Seoul.
